What We Do

Community Outreach
Strawberry Tea

We love bringing the community together in the early summer for an outdoor gathering with strawberries, tea, scones, gently used clothing, entertainment, and more. Start planning your favourite fancy tea outfit!

Food Bank

Our church offers a pantry-style food bank, allowing 24-hour access for anyone in need.

Pastoral Care

With many in our community in need and many in the world who are suffering, we offer a prayer circle, spiritual care, home visits, as well as prayer requests. On the lighter side, we provide pet blessings!

Prayer Shawls

We have a wonderful Prayer Shawl Ministry at Bowen Island United Church! There are many people in our community who are recovering from surgery or accidents, experiencing illness of many sorts, or who are simply feeling lonely. Local volunteers create prayer shawls to bring to the church where Reverend Lorraine gives them a blessing. She then makes sure they find a home around the shoulders of someone who needs to feel some warm love and care. If you are interested in being part of this group of knitting angels, please contact Lorraine.

Christmas Craft Fair

The Little Red Church Christmas Craft Fair usually takes place on the last Saturday of November in Collins Hall. A delightful event to start your Christmas shopping with tables filled with crafts by local artists, homemade baking, and wonderful treasures from the attic! For more information, please contact Helen Wallwork.

Christmas Pageant

Every mid-December, the Bowen Island United Church presents a magical Christmas Pageant. It is always a joyful, quirky, and unique way to tell the Christmas Story. A great reminder about the profound gift on a simple night in an ordinary stable.
